Description

A 45-year-old man with a three-month history of abdominal discomfort and bloating was diagnosed with functional dyspepsia and showed significant clinical improvement following treatment with Polygel antacid gel. Notable reduction in symptoms, particularly abdominal discomfort and bloating, were observed within 14 days of therapy.

This case review CME explores the diagnostic complexity of functional dyspepsia, especially in patients with overlapping gastrointestinal disorders. It examines current challenges in GERD management and emphasizes the importance of symptom-driven, patient-centric treatment approaches. The case review also presents clinical evidence supporting the use of balanced aluminium–magnesium antacids with simethicone, highlighting their prolonged acid-buffering action, favourable safety profile, and proven efficacy.
