Description
An updated clinical guideline offers evidence-based recommendations for managing adult patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). A multidisciplinary panel conducted systematic reviews using the GRADE methodology to develop clinical practice guidelines for CAP in adults. The guideline addresses 16 key areas, including diagnostics, care setting decisions, empiric antibiotic selection, and ongoing management. While some recommendations remain from the 2007 version, new clinical trial and epidemiological data have prompted significant updates, particularly in empiric therapy strategies. The recommendations aim to guide clinicians in delivering effective, evidence-based care for CAP.
