Description

A study in the Tropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research compared Polygel Dual with four marketed alginate–antacid combinations to evaluate their raft-forming and antacid properties. Tests assessed raft formation speed, thickness, and acid-neutralizing capacity. Among the products, Polygel Dual and AF-4 formed strong rafts, with AF-4 showing faster formation but Polygel Dual maintaining greater overall performance. Polygel Dual effectively raised and sustained pH above 7 for 210 minutes, outperforming all others in both raft stability and antacid effect.
The study concluded that Polygel Dual exhibits superior raft-forming and acid-neutralizing abilities, suggesting its potential as an effective treatment for acid reflux, pending further clinical validation.
